What is Profhilo®?

The first of its kind, Profhilo® is a revolutionary ‘beneath the skin’ hyaluronic acid moisturising treatment, made with the patented NAHYCO® technology. This results in a unique hyaluronic acid injectable gel, which has a prolonged stimulating activity on the dermal cells. When injected into skin, Profhilo® stimulates the skin cell receptors to counteract skin laxity and improve and restore firmness of the skin.

One of the highest concentrations of hyaluronic acid on the market, Profhilo® not only boosts and hydrates the skin, but also remodels ageing and sagging tissue. The most common areas of treatment include the face and neck and can also be used for the décolletage, hands, arms, knees and abdomen area where it would effectively treat skin laxity. The treatment is suitable for men and women as well as offering skin benefits for patients of all ages.

 

How Does Profhilo® Work?

Ultra-pure hyaluronic acid is precisely injected into the area being treated. Unlike wrinkle reducing and dermal filler treatments, Profhilo® stimulates collagen and elastin, attracting water in the deeper layers of the skin.

As a stabilised product, the activity on dermal cells will last longer than that of a non-stabilised gel. During this time the stimulation of four different types of collagen and elastin takes place by slow release of hyaluronic acid.

The stimulation results in significant tissue improvement. Therefore we cannot say that Profhilo® is a skin booster as it also has a significant tightening / lifting effect on the tissue.

FAQs

  • How long does it take to see results with Profhilo?
    While you may see an improvement immediately after the first treatment, the best results are visible around 4 weeks after the second treatment. After 8 weeks, your skin will also appear more hydrated, healthy and youthful.
  • How long does the Profhilo effects last?
    The injections improve the firmness and elasticity of the skin. How long does Profhilo last? Profhilo generally lasts 6 months if 2 treatments are given one month apart. After the initial treatments, we recommend coming back to see us every 6-9 months.
  • Is Profhilo better than fillers?
    Profhilo a completely offer ent treatment to dermal fillers. If your priorities are to smooth skin texture, minimise fine lines and achieve a radiant complexion, Profhilo is an excellent option. However, if you've lost volume in the face and would like to restore a beautifully balanced profile, dermal fillers will likely be the most appropriate treatment pathway. This can be discussed upon consultation.
  • Does Profhilo have any downtime?
    Normal side effects include small amounts of swelling, bruising, redness and soreness. Most of these will subside after a couple of days.
  • Is one session of Profhilo enough?
    It is recommended to have 2 sessions (one month apart) to achieve the maximum results. However, if the skin problems are severe, the third session could be done 1 month after the second session. To maintain the results, one Profhilo treatment session is advised every 6 months.
  • Who shouldn’t have Profhilo?
    As a general rule of thumb, I would not recommend cosmetic injectables for people under the age of 25, who have young and plump skin without any signs of skin ageing or damage. ' It's also worth noting that pregnant or breastfeeding women should not have Profhilo.
  • Does Profhilo look natural?
    Profhilo creates very natural looking results. It effectively remodels the skin to appear smoother and tighter. Profhilo does not affect the shape of the face or volume. Its power lies in how it deeply hydrates, targets skin laxity and gives skin that glow, therefore the results look very natural.
  • Do you need Botox if you have Profhilo?
    Profhilo will not reduce dynamic wrinkles or delay their formation by preventing muscle contraction like Botox will, although it can soften lines by improving the condition of the skin. Profhilo can be used alongside both traditional dermal fillers and Botox treatments.
  • Who is a good candidate for Profhilo?
    Who is a good candidate for Profhilo? Profhilo is recommended for patients with fine lines, dehydrated skin or an overall loss of radiance. It can be administered for both, preventative or corrective measures avoiding early signs of skin ageing.
  • Can Profhilo be used under the eyes?
    Profhilo can be used under the eyes to reduce under-eye wrinkles and fine lines around the eyes. However, it is important to note that as Profhilo is not a dermal filler, issues related to volume loss, such as eye bags and dark eye circles cannot be addressed by this treatment.
  • Does Profhilo make you look younger?
