Seborrhoeic Keratosis Removal

Seborrhoeic keratoses are very common, harmless skin growth that can develop as we get older. They look like a raised, waxy or ‘stuck on’ patch on the skin and can vary in colour from light tan to dark brown or almost black.

Although they are benign, many people choose to have them removed if they catch on clothing, become irritated, bleed after being knocked, or simply because they do not like how they look.

At Samantha Ward Aesthetics, we offer professional consultation and treatment options for suitable Seborrhoeic keratoses using advance laser technology by Alma Lasers. The laser works by delivering controlled energy to the lesion, allowing it to break down while minimising disruption to the surrounding skin. Following treatment, the area may appear darker, red or slightly crusted before naturally healing.

Some lesions may require more than one treatment session, particularly if they are larger, thicker or more deeply pigmented.

FAQs

  • How many treatments will I need?
Many Seborrhoeic keratoses can be treated in one session. Larger, thicker or more pigmented lesions may require a second treatment for best results.
  • Does it hurt?
Most clients describe the treatment as a quick warm, stinging or snapping sensation. The treatment itself is usually very fast, and discomfort is generally minimal.
  • Is there any downtime?
There can be some downtime while the skin heals. The treatment area may look red, darker, slightly swollen or crusted immediately after treatment.
  • Will it come back?
The treated lesion is unlikely to return once it is healed. However, Seborrhoeic keratoses are common and a new lesion can develop elsewhere over time.
  • Can I have treatment if the lesion is dark or changing?
Any lesion that is new, changing, irregular, painful, bleeding, itchy or therwise concerning must be assessed by your GP or dermatologist before treatment.
